Agriculture at the garage

What does agriculture look like here?

Agricultural Awareness

The Next Generation of Land Stewards

The Garage takes up a footprint of 1 acre on a 77 acre horse farm, Honey Acres. The farm produces honey, flowers, and various veggies throughout the year. The Garage serves as Honey Acres's on site store front for purchasing these farm goods.

Garage attendees also get to recreate in wide open spaces and enjoy the rural beauty of the farm. Many remark how exciting it is to pet horses and wander from The Garage to the goat play area to spend time with the animals.

43% of patrons to Montgomery County's Agriculture Reserve are above the age of 45, and only 9% are between the ages of 18-25. Only 11% of visitors to the Ag Reserve have an income of $24K a year or less. The Garage welcomes in a younger and less financially stable audience to the Ag Reserve by offering an affordable activity that adheres to the interests of younger demographics. The Garage brings awareness of the Ag Reserve to hundreds of people who would otherwise not be invited into it. The Garage gives the next generation a reason to love and care about this land.

The median age of Montgomery County is 40.6. The Ag Reserve does a fantastic job of inviting this demographic out to enjoy it through wineries, breweries, wedding venues, and other event spaces. However, to protect the Ag Reserve for future generations, we need to start introducing younger generations to everything it has to offer. Giving younger audiences a reason to come out to the Ag Reserve raises awareness of its existence and gives them the opportunity to find more spaces here to enjoy and recreate in.
